Out and about
Lamourache Nord Gites are in Lot et Garrone, close to the Dordogne and Gironde regions, all of which are fantastic places to explore. They are full of history and wine! This page will give you a guide to some of the closest villages and towns plus a couple of popular towns/cities further afield.
Towns & Villages
LEVIGNAC-de-GUYENNE 1.7km away which has a bakery, mini-market, pharmacy, post office, bar, hair salon & beauty therapist, library, doctors surgery, dentists and physiotherapist. There are public tennis courts, boules courts and a sports centre. Some of the 13th century “bastide” wall is still visible in parts of the village. In July and August, each Friday evening there is a night market. Vineyards are abundant in the area with wine tours, tastings and pop up restaurants in vineyards.

Restaurant St Vincent 2km out of the village at the mobile home campsite. Bistro dining and set menus available. Reservations required.

DURAS is 7.5km away, a popular historical town with a 12th century chateau, supermarket, restaurants, shops, cafes and a weekly Monday morning market. In July and August, each Thursday evening there is a night market. The chateau hosts many events throughout the year but especially in the summer months.
Cafe de la Paix is a traditional French restaurant and cafe, opposite the pharmacy. Daily menu available.
Parvis Magna, A pop up restaurant for the summer. Its a bar and Asian food which changes with guest chefs. Music often features. Reservations required. Its a fabulous atmosphere.
Don Camillo Pizzeria does a daily menu and has a la carte. Its very popular and reservations are recommended.
Karl is a snack bar with outside seating.
La terrace du Chateau - Creperie is opposite the chateau. An amazing variety of savoury and sweet crepes with many other options.
Restaurant l'Hostellerie des Ducs is an upmarket restaurant in the hotel. A la carte and daily menus. Reservations recommended.

MONTETON, a tiny village is 8km away with far reaching hilltop views, a pretty church, market hall viewing platform, 2 restaurants, and hosts many events throughout the year. It has an old chateau housing one of the restaurants.
XIII Clochers restaurant with a fabulous view. A la carte menu only. Reservations recommended.
Chateau de Monteton is within the walls of the chateau. A simple menu changing regularly, but not open everyday. Reservations required.

Allemans-du-Dropt is 9 km away and is one of the pretty villages along the Dropt river valley with a hotel/restaurant and a cafe bar. There are several shops in the around the market place. It has a 10th century church with stunning frescoes, 15th century market hall and a lovely old dovecote. There is a magnificent bridge at the mill.

Auriac sur Dropt is 10km away situated on the Dropt river. It is a tiny village with a popular restaurant.

Monsegur is 12km away an historical ‘bastide’ town in the Gironde region, overlooking the Dropt river with restaurants, shops, cafes, cinema and a Friday weekly market centred around the beautiful ‘La Halle’. In July and August, each Wednesday evening there is a night market. The town hosts many events including a 3-day jazz festival at the beginning of July.

BEAUPUY is 15km away in the direction of Marmande. It is a small quiet village and has a mini market shop with a cafe and a typical French restaurant.
D'lices restaurant is seasonal and homemade with a menu of the day. You will eat well. Reservations recommended.

Eymet is 21km away. Another popular 12th century bastide town on the Dropt river with a supermarket, shops, cafes, restaurants, cinema and old chateau. There is a Thursday weekly market and a Tuesday night market in July and August. The town hosts many events throughout the year with a generous number in the summer months.

Castelmoron d’Albret 22km away is the smallest municipality in France, with an area of 3.54 hectares. It is a charming, fortified village perched on a rocky outcrop. View flowery streets, admire its old houses, remains of ramparts, wash-house and fortified doors.

Sainte-Foy-La-Grande is 30km to the north on the banks of the Dordogne river. It has one of the most popular and biggest markets in the region each Saturday morning. A 15th century bastide town with many medieval buildings still in use. It has all the usual supermarkets and other shops and restaurants you need.

Bergerac is 46km to the east, built on the banks of the Dordogne river with a small regional airport with many flights to the UK in the summer. It has many supermarkets, shops, restaurants and other facilities. The old town is a beautiful place to visit, wander the ancient streets and enjoy the ambience over a coffee or a meal. You can take a boat trip up the river from here. Its an important wine region with wine tours, chateau visits and the Maison du Vin by the river. The town contains two statues of Cyrano de Bergerac, subject of a famous eponymous play by Edmond Rostand.

Saint Émilion is 50km northwest. A designated world heritage site that is truly stunning. It has Romaneque churches and ruins stretching along its steep and narrow streets that are lined with wine merchants, cafes, restaurants, and shops. There are many guided tours available of the town and its vineyards. It’s also known for its macaroons, which have been made continuously since 1620.
Bordeaux, a UNESCO site is 96km to the west with an international airport. Built on the banks of the Garonne river it is first and foremost wine that comes to mind when Bordeaux is mentioned. It has 7000 winemakers, home to some of the oldest vineyards and finest wines in the world. When you visit Bordeaux, it’s not just about wine though – water is important too. A stroll along the banks of the River Garonne and the estuary of the Gironde reveals culture, nature, wine tourism and enchanting chateaux
